BIO

The Irons is an alternative rock band and performative group that formed in Austin Texas in 2017. The performing members include Hayden Havard (singer/songwriter), Robert Harris (guitar), Nathan Pittman (drums), Caleb Tippit (guitar), and Willy Stegman (bass), who all live together and make music out of their home in Austin. Their first album, “Peter Clear Boy”, released in 2018, is the first in a series of concept albums that assume characters representing different landmarks in the hero’s journey. Their latest album “He’s About to Blow”, is the third installment in this journey, where we take a look at the final moments of a character in distress - who, for reasons that are a little unclear, explodes in public, leaving no indication of his whereabouts.

“‘God is an iron’[…] perhaps, if that is the case, then we too must become irons ourselves so that we may learn to accept the world as it is and even, if we’re lucky, notice its occasional beauty and humor. He’s About To Blow, with its disorienting soundscapes, creative storytelling, and cathartic, swirling chaos punctuated by moments of profound stillness, helps me do precisely that and I hope it can do the same for you.

10/10

A monumental achievement.”

“The Irons […] have created quite a stir in the Austin music scene with their funky beats, humorous lyricism, and high energy performances!”

-Mahina Adams, afterglowatx.com

“The music is subtle to say the least. Showcasing a guitar, keyboard, bass, and drums, this album maintains a healthy amount of space for the vocals and sound effects. Along with the creative exploration, “New To The City,” “She’s Out There,” and “Slowly” are all easy, radio friendly hits that I find myself singing along to in the car.”

-Eric McKeefer, KTSW 89.9

“Overall, the lyrics of the album stand on their own literary feet as poetry, pure and simple, but the crisp drums and sweeping soundscapes certainly don’t hurt. It’s everything a good album is: musically sophisticated, both relatable as well as deeply mysterious, and creatively boundary-pushing.”
